Prairie Rush Kennel has the slogan: “A true friend leaves paw prints on your heart.” There is no doubt there have been many paw prints left behind over the years by these faithful, loving friends. Our kennel is the realization of a lifelong desire to give further structure to this enjoyment. My great opportunity came when Dr. William E. Lichtenberger, D.V.M., and his wife Sue, breeders and owners of Windrush Kennels in Fort Macleod, Alberta, Canada asked if I would like to co-own a female Golden Retriever. What an opportunity! It wasn’t long before Windrush Abby bounded onto our yard and into my heart. We took long walks together, played in the snow, went to obedience classes, entered show rings. In short, I watched my puppy grow into a beautiful, golden champion.

When Abby had turned 2 years old, excitement mounted. She was old enough for her first litter of puppies! One aspect of a breeding program that is very important to us is proper health testing to ensure the long-term health and well-being of the puppies. With Dr. Bill’s expertise, the testing was made easy for me.

As owner of some of the puppies, and inspired by the names Windrush, Rush Hill, and our prairie setting, I chose the kennel name Prairie Rush. My golden family now lives in the comfort of its own Prairie Rush Kennel.

As you can see from the pictures, the puppies and adult dogs are an absolute joy. Since they have children around much of the time, they are well socialized, and are great family companions.

Prairie Rush Kennels is the home of adorable Golden Retrievers!
